One of my very favorite albums by anyone at anytime is David Byrne’s Complete Score from the Broadway Production of “The Catherine Wheel” (1981). And it has such pitiful artwork. The original LP artwork was half-decent, but that was a 45-minute condensation of the score; the full 69-minute score was only released on cassette, and no artwork conveyed but the cover image. The CD issue a few years later included the complete score and added lyrics, but no better artwork.
This is my update to the CD artwork. Photos all come from stagings of The Catherine Wheel, and not just the 1981 production. I left the original LP cover alone…mostly.
