I’m an absolute nut for early synthesizer music. One of my first formative discoveries in my parents’ record collection was Dick Hyman’s Age of Electronicus, a Moog-filled LP of original compositions and groovy covers like “Green Onions” and the Beatles’ “Blackbird.” The two best music festival experiences I’ve had were Moogfest 2012 and Moogfest 2014, both in Asheville, NC.
In between those fests, high on square waves and sawtooths, I created this 2-CD collection for myself and friends. Though I find the visual design a little spartan now, I remain happy with the tangerine, mustard & avocado color scheme piped in directly from 1973. And musically, I think this mix is one of my top five.
